"Stand -up lifter thingy"

Stuart was in the gym when we arrived today and boy oh boy was he excited......he had a flicker in his right thigh, hip abductors and flexers. Was special as well as we were all here to be part of the excitment, especially Nandi and Pa. Alex quickly into action and had his leg up in the sling to work the muscles without gravity.

Victoria and Alex got Stuart up in the stand-up lifter/transfer thingy. Both legs were locked at the knee and hips, he was then able to bear weight, working the left leg the. It was very tiring as the muscles fatigue very quickly, he only managed a few minutes the first time before they had to sit him down on the plinth. His legs have wasted a lot over the last eight weeks. Not that his legs were very big before the accident. He was able to stand 4 times before he became to tired and had to call it quits and have a spell.

Finished his session with a few stretches on the plinth. He looked great standing up and said it was just the best feeling to be 6 foot tall again. Was definitely taller than Pa, maybe he has grown over the last few weeks!!!!! Damian who measures in at 6'3" looked similar in height. What a session today.

Where has that bottom gone.

We all then went downstairs to eat our packed lunch(except Nandi who is on clear fluids for a colonoscopy tomorrow) Stuart was going to have his mini pizza that he had ordered, but alas when I took the lid off there were only two very sad looking little biscuit size things on his plate. The nursing staff were horrified and got onto catering services straight away, he usually gets 6 or 7 on his plate. When he got back upstairs at 2.30 there was some more on his table which he had for arvo tea.
Stuart and I have spent the afternoon chatting, looking at video clips of downhill sit skiing and working on this blog.
Who knows what tomorrow will bring. The team have been investigating ways that we might get Stuart closer to home or maybe even Wagga while he waits for his spot at Mooroong for rehab(which could be 2 months)
